Mitch McConnelly Demands Entitlement Cuts and Discretionary Spending Cuts

Mitch McConnell, “In the long term, we all know — long-term — we have over 50 trillion in unfunded liabilities and very popular programs that Americans depend on, Medicare, Social Security, Medicaid, that are simply on an unsustainable path,"

Republican, Mitch McConnelly says that he was OPPOSE the increase of the debt ceiling unless Obama and other Liberals agree to making some cuts to entitlement programs (wouldn’t the U.S. be in much better shape if we just cut entitlement programs?!) and some short-term cuts in discretionary spending.

I just hope that Obama and other Liberals do agree because we could use all of that! We need to increase the debt ceiling, we need to make some cuts to the entitlement programs, and we need some cuts in discretionary spending! All of those are issues that need to be taken care of.

McConnell had told Obama all of his demands after a meeting with Senate Republicans. The meeting with the Senate Republicans was just a brief layout of next years and the next decades spending cuts. McConnell had said that Medicare and Medicaid was mentioned very frequently during the meeting with the Senate Republicans but…Social Security was HARDLY SPOKEN OF!

Obama had also taken questions from each Republican senator that wanted to talk about the occurring issues on raising the debt ceiling. McConnell “was a little skeptical whether this meeting was worth having” (part of quote from McConnell). Overall the meeting was a “very good meeting” (part of quote from McConnell). McConnell was especially happy about how Obama let GOP senators tell Obama directly how they feel!  Sens. Marco Rubio (Fla.), Bob Corker (Tenn.), Tom Coburn (Okla.), Rob Portman (Ohio), Pat Toomey (Pa.) and John Hoeven (N.D.). Those were all of the different senators to talk to Obama!

Senate Republicans want trillions of dollars in spending cuts, far beyond the $38.5 billion in cuts that lawmakers haggled over earlier this year.

“In the long term, we all know — long-term — we have over 50 trillion in unfunded liabilities and very popular programs that Americans depend on, Medicare, Social Security, Medicaid, that are simply on an unsustainable path” stated McConnell. I completely agree with McDonnell!
