Paul Ryan (GOP)

Rep. Paul Ryan from Wisconsin (Republican) decision not to run for the Senate is showing that both parties will have VERY competitive primaries in this upcoming year. Candidates are expected to start announcing they’re running here shortly… Paul Ryan announced today that he will be staying in the house to keep giving insight and keep working on the budget. “I believe continuing to serve as chairman of the House Budget Committee allows me to have a greater impact in averting this debt-fueled economic crisis than if I were to run for the United States Senate,” he said in a statement. Strategists say that Ryan would’ve had one hell of a shot at nomination… and I am personally guessing he had a HIGH chance of winning! Former Gov. Tommy Thompson (R) is expected to run, seeings how he told advisers in the past he had all intentions of running if Ryan didn’t. Sen. John Cornyn (Texas), who chairs the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC), told The Hill on Tuesday that he hadn’t spoken to Thompson about running, but expected to do so in the coming days.

Also back in Wisconsin Republicans are talking about the Fitzgerald brothers being possibilities. Fitzgerald brothers are both speaking at the state Republican convention in Wisconsin Dells this weekend. We might be able to hear a little bit more about them running.
